Tank

After lots of extrusions, a bit of chamfering and a nice bit of paint, here's the tank from today's tutorial.

Although it is good practice to make as much as you can in one shape by extruding a tweaking vertices, this was made with multiple pieces, but were then made into one by right-clicking an object and choosing 'attach'. Each object clicked after that joins the initial piece making one object.

The shape of the body was achieved through the use of boxes and cylinders. Edges were chamfered also. The wheels are all just cylinders aligned along the body. The caterpillar tread was made with a long, thin box. The end edges were extruded and rotated to create new panels. This was repeated until a loop was created that met the starting point. Then, every other face on the outside of the tread was selected and extruded to create the bumps.

Using the materials panel, a glossy green and brown finish was applied to the body, while the tread had black rubber and the wheels were stainless steel.
